Formerly part of the mainland, Bedarra Island became separated several thousand years ago due to rising water levels and now sits between Wheeler and Timanal Islands in a small archipelago dubbed the “Family Group” that contains islands dotted with various pristine beaches and coves interspersed intermittently between the stretches of jungle.
You can reach Bedarra Island via boat on their daily launch from Mission Beach or for a more impressive entrance you can fly via helicopter to the island’s beachside heli-pad. With beautiful natural surroundings at your doorstep you can choose to take a walk through the rainforest in solitude or glide into the ocean and snorkel in the crystal clear waters of the coral sea.
Sea Kayaks, stand up paddle boards and snorkel equipment are available for resort guests. And if you wish to venture further afield outer Great Barrier Reef snorkel and scuba dive tours, deep sea fishing and scenic helicopter flights can be arranged through the concierge desk.
Diving in the nearby sea you can expect to come across turtles, dugongs and even humpback whales during their migration season. Several species of birdlife also call the island their home.
This exclusive resort offers nine villas built into the tropical rainforest with views overlooking the reef lagoon. These spacious and luxurious villas offer complete privacy and relaxation.
Resort rates include all meals and snacks so you can unwind and enjoy the gourmet food on offer in the open terrace restaurants, bars and lounges. Due to the islands sustainability policy many meals are prepared using fresh ingredients from the organic island vegetable garden.
Almost all of the accommodation on the island provides views of the beach and ocean as well as the surrounding islands that stretch out into the distance beyond, a reflection of how untouched and well-preserved Bedarra Island has been due to conscious conservation efforts.
The island is dedicated to providing guests with unique and memorable experiences such as candlelit dinners on the beach or picnics on nearby secluded islands. Weddings are also popular and the resort can accommodate up to 16 guests for an intimate celebration. Please keep in mind this resort does not cater for children and all guests must be over the age of 16.
Bedarra Island has a strong focus on sustainability and have reduced their accommodation on offer in an effort to conserve energy and water and reduce waste. This also allows the resort to offer a more exclusive and private accommodation experience for the guests who stay at the resort.
