Hayman Island

The premiere destination for luxury accommodation in the Whitsundays.
The ultimate in luxurious accommodation, the island is home to the One & Only Hayman Island Resort, which is set for a multi-million dollar refurbishment and is due to reopen in mid 2018.
About Hayman Island

Dedicated to all the finer things in life, Hayman Island is a playground for millionaires or for those who would just like to pretend. The resort is the ultimate island getaway to help you relax and unwind in style.

Hayman Island is situated 33 kilometres east of the Queensland coast in the Great Barrier Reef. The easiest way to travel to the island is by travelling to the Great Barrier Reef airport on Hamilton Island. From here a luxury yacht will collect you and transfer you to the island. If you wish to make a grand entrance private helicopters and seaplane flights can also be arranged prior to arrival from Hamilton Island to Hayman Island.

The island is owned and operated exclusively by the resort and is only open to resort guests. Accommodation offerings range from suites that have direct pool access, penthouses, villas and beach houses. The island’s impressive high end resort and onsite facilities have become a mecca for honeymooners and celebrities alike, who want to spoil and pamper themselves in a pristine island environment.

The island itself is relatively small but there are endless activities and world class facilities to keep you busy. Within the resort you will find a fitness centre and day spa that offers signature treatments to reinvigorate the spirit. The resort currently has an 18 hole golf course, tennis, squash and basketball courts and retail facilities. Details of the new resort are yet to be announced but it is expected that more facilities are to be introduced to provide guests with a premium holiday experience.

Whilst on Hayman Island you can enjoy many of the natural attractions that make the Whitsunday Islands a unique holiday destination. The island has 4 main lookout points on short bushwalks surrounding the resort. The Whitsunday Lookout will reward you with views of the marina and the Whitsunday Passage. Or you can take a stroll to Blue Pearl Bay to experience a pristine and secluded beach that has some of the best snorkelling and views the Whitsundays has to offer.

For those who crave more adrenaline, a jet ski adventure is the perfect way to explore the reef and surrounding islands. Diving and snorkelling tours to Blue Pearl Bay can be organised. Introductory divers are welcome as PADI Scuba Dive Courses are offered onshore before the dive. Snorkelers and divers can expect to meet giant Maori Wrasse, Barracuda, Bumphead Parrotfish and a huge variety of coral formations and schools of tropical fish.

Kids are welcome on Hayman Island with a number of child- oriented programs and activities in place to keep them occupied. Fish feeding Giant Gropers, snorkel classes, educational talks and a Kids club are available in addition to two excellent pool areas. Babysitting services can be organised through the resort for a fee.

For the big kids, there are a range of bars and restaurants on the island that showcase the best in Australian cuisine. The current offerings are Chinese and Malaysian influenced Bamboo, Italian restaurant Amici, the modern Australian Pacific restaurant and a family friendly poolside Aquazure restaurant.

Hayman Island is best suited to visitors looking for a peaceful holiday in a beautiful tropical island setting but are not willing to sacrifice on comfort or luxury. The One & Only Hayman Island Resort delivers but unfortunately its high price tag can make it seem out of reach for some. There is not a huge amount of activities on offer but it is an island that is designed for relaxation and pampering in a stunning setting. If you are willing to splurge or are looking for a holiday to completely spoil yourself this would be the island in the Whitsundays that you must visit. The island will welcome guests again in mid 2018.
